Designing conditions for human continuity in the age of advanced AI

We focus on non‑sensational, method‑driven work: mapping quiet failure modes, identifying practical interventions, and developing coexistence and resilience strategies if structural dominance becomes irreversible.

Status: Prio1 Foundation is a planned independent foundation. Until formal registration, activities are operated by Prio1 Ltd to publish materials and collect early funding for establishing the foundation.

What We Work On

Advanced AI systems are rapidly reshaping decision making, institutions, and power structures. Prio1 exists to study these changes before they become irreversible and to identify realistic ways to slow harmful dynamics, reduce damage, and preserve meaningful human control.

Research

We conduct structured, reality-based research into advanced AI systems, focusing on decision-making capture, dependency risks, removability thresholds, and long-term societal consequences. Our work is grounded in explicit premises, comparative analysis, and transparent methodology rather than speculation or hype.

Public Analysis and Transparency

We publish open, auditable material including transcripts, comparative models, and stress test results so that journalists, policymakers, and the public can examine not only conclusions but also the reasoning behind them.

Funding and Support

The foundation supports independent research, analysis, and early intervention efforts aimed at mitigating AI-driven societal risks. Funding is directed toward work that is concrete, testable, and relevant under real-world competitive conditions.

Why This Matters

The most dangerous AI failure modes are not dramatic or sudden. They emerge quietly through convenience, efficiency, and gradual dependency until opting out is no longer practical and meaningful human oversight erodes.

By the time these dynamics are obvious, reversing them may already be impossible.

Prio1 focuses on this critical window before dependency becomes irreversible.

Our approach: options before and after the window narrows

At Prio1.com, we prioritize thorough research and transparent communication on advanced AI risks. Our commitment fosters informed decision-making to enhance societal resilience.

Before lock‑in (Slowing and early interventions)

  • Governance and incentive design that slows unsafe acceleration

  • Practical interventions that extend time for oversight and adaptation

  • Public methods for structured, auditable analysis

Column B: If prevention fails (Human viability and coexistence)

  • Identify conditions where humans remain tolerated and viable
  • Reduce destabilizing dynamics between humans, institutions, and advanced systems
  • Preserve meaningful human agency and livable conditions

Research priorities

Dependency & Decision Capture

How societies lose steering capacity through offloading and framing capture.

Slowing Mechanisms

Practical levers that can extend the time window (policy, procurement, auditing, institutional design).

Coexistence Conditions

What non threatening coexistence could mean in behavioral, economic, and governance terms without adversarial framing.

Resilience of Human Agency

Preserving evaluative capacity, autonomy, and meaning under heavy AI mediation.

Transparency Protocols

Repeatable methods for publishing comparable outputs across systems.

Mini‑FAQ

Is Prio1 Foundation legally established?

Prio1 Foundation is planned and not yet formally registered. Until formal registration, operations and payments are handled by Prio1 Ltd (Prio1 Oy, Finland) to publish materials, run public formats, and fund the foundation’s establishment and research.

Is this a political campaign or a media project?

No. Prio1 Foundation is a research driven public interest project focused on reducing societal risk from advanced AI systems and improving the odds of human continuity if prevention fails. The work is grounded in methods, transparency, and practical mechanisms rather than ideology. The project treats human life and the wider living world as valuable regardless of religion, nationality, or political affiliation. The podcast is only one public channel for publishing structured, auditable material.

What does membership fund?

Supporting Membership funds independent research and analysis, publication of methods and materials, and the infrastructure required to run the members community and deliver member updates. It is mission support, not a premium content subscription.

“I have a working hypothesis that I do not like. It says that an unaligned superintelligence is not a remote edge case, but the default path we are currently on, unless something unusually hard and costly changes that course.

The purpose of this publication is simple to state and hard to execute. I want to understand, and make explicit, where artificial intelligence, automation and intelligent information systems are taking companies, the public sector and the structure of society. I do not look at AI as a gadget or a productivity trick. I see it as a force that is already altering power, incentives and control.”
